Passenger Stock Update

In the previous post I began to outline my ideas for the passenger fleet on the line. At present there is enough rolling stock to create three rakes that can be matched with an engine, run on the full length of the layout and sit comfortably in the platforms at Effans Uchaf. I have tried to keep the rake sizes similar in terms of length, so that they can be operated in either platform on the station. There is only one set that is a bit tricky to accommodate on Platform 2, but it is possible to time it so that it only really needs to use platform 2. In my head at any rate.

The Vale of Rheidol set

The Vale of Rheidol set (VOR set) is the most complete set on the railway. It comprises of two Dundas VoR carriages and the VoR brake van. This set can be operated from both platforms, but fits more effectively on Platform 2. The livery is a fictional combination of Cream and Brunswick Green. This is the standard Bron Effans Livery and Iam tentatively planning to build more carriages that carry this livery in future.

The Heritage set

The Heritage set comprises of a mix of carriage types. This is a set that consists of carriages that I wanted to build and does not follow any particular theme. It consists of two bogie coaches and two four wheeled vehicles. This was the first rake that I was able to build. There is a Budget Model Railway carriages in the set that may get replaced at some point. I have seen a brake observation carriage from Dundas that I may acquire for this set.

The North Wales Narrow Gauge Railways set

The NWNGR set comprises two large bogie carriages that have or could have run on the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railway. Coach 24 is a rough replica of the Coach 24 that runs on the Welsh Highland Railway. The observation carriage is more freelance, but I am told it is based on a carriage that ran on the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway. The observation carriage is currently undergoing a major restoration and I am going to weigh up whether to replace this carriage in the not so distant future.
