The Grand Arrivals

The other day I mentioned that I had ordered myself a Bachmann Baldwin "590" for my railway. I have always had a fascination with these wonderful looking locomotives and bit the bullet and ordered one for the layout. It arrived the other day and looks completely magnificent. I cannot fault this model in any way shape or form. It has a superb amount of  and the way that it runs is simply fantastic. It is also quite a bit bigger than any of the other motive power so it will have no issues in hauling a full set from the fiddle yard to the station.

As it turns out my second purchase of the A1 boxcab diesel was not as large as I had thought. It is a lovely model and I am not in anyway complaining about it. It is just is not as bulky, compared to the other two diesels. I am going to put this on hold for a while and convert it into a permanent way inspection vehicle, much like the Permaquip on the Vale of Rheidol railway. I am going to scratch build a carrier wagon for it and use it in that way I think. A nice excuse to paint it in an all over yellow and black livery I feel. I am going to try and acquire another Kato 103 Chassis for this purpose as there is another bodyshell that I can use to build Diesel No. 11. I just want to concentrate on the layout for the next couple of months. It is nice having a lot of locomotives, but not if there is nowhere for them to travel.

You can see the boxcab in the middle. This is going to be repurposed as a Permanent way vehicle.

The layout must now take priority!
